chickaddie-crafts asked - "I live in WA close to the Canadian boarder and I plan on visiting Vancouver soon. Do you have any suggestions of places I should visit?"

I’ve only been here for 5 weeks but here’s a list of things I’d reccomend;

  • stanley park - beautiful view of downtown and you can rent rollerblades or a bike to cycle round if the weather is good.
  • the eatery - a sushi restaurant in kitsilano - great cheap food and good portion sizes
  • capilano suspension bridge
  • the vancouver aquarium - it’s full of kids on the weekends but they have sloths! plus it’s in stanley park so if the weather turns foul you can just run inside!
  • the academic - if you’re in Vancouver in the evening, a great bar that has a small dancefloor - they play great music
  • backstage lounge - if you’re in Van on a Thursday night it’s the place to be!
  • the art gallery downtown is great and they have a really good cafe too!
  • the museum of anthropology on the UBC campus
  • grouse/seymour mountain for skiing and on a clear day great views of the city below.

I’m sure I’ve missed out heaps but there’s honestly so much to do here, and if you get bored of downtown just hop on the skytrain to Kitsilano, there’s great beaches and cafes (sophie’s cosmic cafe would be my reccomendation) and great views of downtown and the mountains.

I tend not to post personal things here but I just have to get it off my chest.
I love my friends in Vancouver to bits. I’ve only known them for a month and already I feel like some are going to be friends for life. Tonight we’re planning to buy adult squirrel costumes and run around chasing one of my friends who is terrified of the creatures. With friends like us who needs enemies?

I’m having so much fun on exchange and I’m so happy I have this amazing opportunity.
Finally I can say with no irony; loving law, loving life.
